Dairy Crest, the number one British dairy company, has been named winner of the 2014 IGD President’s Cup. The President’s Cup is awarded to the IGD member company that has “played a significant role in helping the IGD to achieve its aims and objectives over the last year”.
Dairy Crest was singled out in recognition of the work it has undertaken in the past year to provide support and training for unemployed people through the ‘Feeding Britain’s Future’ programme. The company was also praised for the leading role it has played in the ‘Working on Waste’ consumer awareness initiative.
Mark Allen, Dairy Crest’s CEO, said:
“I am delighted to receive this award on behalf of all my colleagues. It is in recognition of their work."
“I am proud to work in an industry which continues to lead the way in terms of tackling social issues head on through effective and targeted campaigns such as those run by the IGD.”
Fiona Dawson, President of Mars Chocolate UK and Global Retail as well as President of the IGD commented, “It gives me great pleasure to announce that this year’s President’s Cup is awarded to Dairy Crest. Dairy Crest is an inspiration to many other businesses engaged in our charitable activities, helping to deliver public benefit across areas from sustainability and nutrition, to new technologies and employability.
“A longstanding and considerable supporter of IGD’s charitable programme and commercial activities, Dairy Crest participates in all our Industry Working Groups.”
